Help Me Trek Across Maine
This June I'll be riding in the Trek Across Maine, a 180-mile bike ride to benefit the American Lung Association. Although I bike to work and around town, this will be my first long haul.
You can help out either by volunteering to pedal for me when I get tired or by visiting my fundraising page and pledging some money towards a worthy cause. It is of course tax-deductable.
I'll be moblogging the ride here on Vox naturally. In the meantime stay tuned for updates as I try to get ready for the big ride.

I did a similar ride a few years ago and was surprised how much easier it was than everyone said it would be. Prior to the ride I had never gone more than 67 miles in a single week. I am fairly certain that had I had a better bike at the time I could have easily done it in a day rather than two. I was on a mountain bike with a messed up gear system (I only had the three tightest).
The one thing I learned was never straighten your arms, I ended up with mild temporary nerve damage (numbness in my arms and hands for almost a month).
Anyway, good luck!
