One of my photos made it to the final round of Vox's "Show us Summer" photo contest. Now people will vote among the final ten to determine the winner. Please go vote for my photo the photo you like best at the contest page. Thanks!
This is the photo I entered:
This week's challenge: tell me where the bigger-than-life Sonic shown in the picture is located (duckling shown for scale). You'll need to provide the full mailing address to win.
This week's prize: some videogame-related swag, natch.
As always, post your answer as a comment to this post. If you want to play but need a Vox invite, just let me know.
A stack of Friday Fun prizes destined for the post office tomorrow. Tune
in Friday for another chance to win!
No one has won friday's contest, so I just posted another hint there. Go play!
Welcome Voxerati! If you are the first to answer the trivia question below, you'll win this week's prize. This week's prize is our first mystery prize (i.e., I didn't have time last night to look around and decide on something).
On to the question:
Who is the world-wide largest manufacturer of tires per year? (my data is for the year 2000, but I don't think the answer has changed since then)
The first person to answer correctly in comments wins. A link to where you found the answer is always nice too.
If any non Voxen are reading this and wish to play, hit me up and I'll send you an invite so you can comment.
I know I have a lot of past prizes to mail out, but I've got everything sitting in a nice pile in my dining room so hang in there winners!
[update 2] Hint #2 - they made over 300 million tires in the year 2000
[update] Hint #1 - I mention the company in one of my older posts :)
also, this week's prize will be a promotional mix CD from Filter magazine, titled Son of Showdown at Cedar Street
Last week's game proved a bit tricky, so let's go with some movie trivia this week. The first person to answer correctly will win .... rare postcards from MIT's Snowflake-a-Thon 2005!
The question: In what movie does a soccer ball help in the design of a nuclear bomb?
Post answers in comments. If you don't have a Vox account and would like to play, just let me know and I'll send one your way.
[update] Clue: this movie is from the 1980s
[update 2] Clue: Someone from Sex and the City is in this movie.
Everyone had fun with last week's game, and I'm heading off to the post office at lunch to mail the prizes. Since folks think this is a fun idea, let's keep the Friday fun going with another round.
No pictures, so it is a text-based puzzle this time around.
Peruse this list:
- Floyd
- Krill
- PRISM
- Tomas
- Burbank
- Tamara
- Bert
- Plato
The first challenge: state what all of them have in common.
The second challenge: in the context of what they all have in common, tell me something about each of them.
Prizes: Some random SONY Aibo promotional stickers and things. Since there are two challenges, it is possible we'll have two winners again. This leads to a strategy dilemma: once you figure out the first challenge, do you post your result in comments right away to claim your prize - thereby tipping off fellow players and making it a race to complete the second challenge? Or do you horde your answer and hope you can post the solution to both before anyone else?
Clues: I've already given them.
Post answers in comments. If you don't have a Vox account and would like to play, just let me know and I'll send one your way.
Fellow Voxians, I put forth this challenge:
In a (very) recent post, I shared pics from the so-called Fortune Cookie Museum. The first person who leaves a comment telling me the pictured museum's location - meaning a specific address, not just city/state - wins a rare hiptop promotional tshirt, pictured below. It is fabulous because it features Godzilla:
You can get some clues as to the general area by perusing some of my past posts. If you are want to play but are not on Vox yet, let me know and I'll send you an invite.
(Does anyone think this is a fun idea? If it goes well I'll do this every Friday at least. I have plenty of crap quality prizes to choose from!)
* actual fabulousness may vary
