Got my bike all festooned for holiday travels:
These battery-powered L.E.D. lights are amazingly bright! I've had some good comments on them so far.
This is the sixteenth picture in the 25 Pictures of Xmas series:
This is the Christmas tree located on the campus of L.L. Bean in Freeport, Maine. It is a live tree, so it is only going to get bigger every year (soory, not a live tree). The large green balls are bundles of regular-sized lights. The multi-colored lights you see are actually large illuminated Nalgene water bottles.
[update] I contaced L.L. Bean and a representative informed me the tree is "approximately 40 feet" tall (December 2006). As a point of comparison, this year's tree at Rockefeller Center in NYC is 88 feet tall. Of course, that one is not getting any taller.

As seen in previous pics (and as you will probably see in future pics), Portland puts out some holiday lights funky in both shape and color. Just take a drive down Congress street and enjoy! To see the lights pictured above, head for the Old Port section of town. What I like about this picture is that out of context it could just as easily be a picture of fireworks.

The city of Portland, Maine puts out a lot of lights at Christmas time. I'll be showing more of them in this series. This is one from a grove of blue-lighted trees on Congress street. This picture looks a little more interesting if you click and zoom in to the full-size version.
